The foundation of Lazenby Eye Care Center was laid in the spring of 1973 when G. William Lazenby, M.D. opened his solo practice in eye surgery and disease in the Tampa Bay area in what was then Tarpon Springs and is now Holiday. The practice became one of the premier cataract surgery practices in the Southeastern United States.
Dr. Lazenby made a commitment to personal, one on one relationships with his patients, to state of the art technology and innovative techniques, and to the people of the Tampa Bay community. Under his leadership Lazenby Eye Care Center expanded into Largo, and in 1989, Dr. Lazenby built Holiday Surgery Center.
Today, the traditions begun on that foundation are carried on by director and owner D. Heather Heath, M.D., F.A.C.S. Dr. Heath has been in practice in the Tampa Bay area for over 25 years. A graduate of Duke University and the University of Miami Medical School, Dr. Heath has become known as one of the best cataract surgeons in the area and as a caring, compassionate physician.
As the owner and director Dr. Heath said, "I embrace the traditions of Lazenby Eye Care Center, and am proud to be the one to continue those traditions and build on the foundation laid 30 years ago."
Dr. Heath continues to offer personal, excellent eye care in the clinics in Holiday and in Largo and in the Holiday Surgery Center. In addition to directing the clinics and surgery center, Dr. Heath performs cataract surgery and is also accepting new patients.
